Back to School Free Printables from The Paper Cupcake

And we’re back! I apologize for the week long hiatus. Blogher ate my brain and Charlotte and I are busy trying to figure out where to take this blog and how to squeeze in everything we want to do while staying on top of all our other responsibilities (like keeping our children alive). Thanks for your patience! We have a ton of great ideas, and it’s just going to take time to see them grow. Continue reading

Sesame Street Birthday

More Sesame Street! I love me some public television, so you can imagine my delight when we received Staci’s submission of a Sesame Street themed birthday party.

The candy/favor table had something for everyone, from bubble gum to rubber duckies.

The decorations are adorable, and any fan of the show could tell a lot of thought went into their design. Just check out the base of the cookie monster centerpiece.

Of course it’s not a party without hats, and one look at these has me running for my glue stick. I’m thinking this could also be a fun craft for some partying kids to do? So cute!

Head on over to Staci’s blog for tons more pics of food, favors, decorations and outdoor fun, including an Oscar The Grouch trash toss!

Sesame Street Themed DIY Goodie Bags

Love these Cookie Monster, Elmo and Oscar The Grouch inspired paper goodie bags! Not only are they inexpensive to create, but also easy enough that you don’t have to be a Martha Stewart protege to recreate them.

My homemade Sesame Street goody bags. I bought colored lunch sacks at Michael’s ($2.99 for 12) and cut out circles for the eyes (and for Elmo, noses too.) Glued them on and drew on the rest with a Sharpie. Inside them, I put little Sesame Street coloring & sticker books that I found at Christmas Tree Shop, along with mini boxes of crayons, bubbles, fruit snacks, lollipops and animal crackers. The kids loved them.

Sushi Shower Ideas

Mommy Knows made this candy sushi for her daughter’s 10 year birthday bash, and OMGNOM, it looks so good. Got me thinking that this would also make an excellent addition to a baby shower! The pregnant gals may not be able to overindulge in all the real sushi they want, but they won’t get any disapproving glances when they pig out on these sugary sweet versions.

Check out the full tutorial over on Mommy Knows.

Continuing with the Asian inspired sweets theme, how lovely would these Chinese Takeout cupcakes be on a shower buffet, maybe next to a bowl of fortune cookies?

And to take the sushi theme to another level, what about showering the guest of honor with a sushi inspired diaper cake, like this one from Etsy seller jkalea.

DIY Easy, Inexpensive Cupcake Stand

I’m sharing this from my own blog (Baby Rabies) today. You can take this idea and make it work for any party just by switching up the color of fabric, paper and ribbon you use. Make it big, make it small, make it square, make it round. Make it work for you. Best of all, make it for cheap.

CARS Themed Birthday Party

This Disney Cars themed birthday party is just so packed with creative details and turned out so fantastic, that it even has me reconsidering doing this theme for my own son *again* even though it would be the second time he’s had a Cars party in the past four years, simply because it is just so darn cute!

I truly love how Finn’s mother Michelle added so much detail and character by including so many interactive and incredibly creative touches throughout the entire party. Some of my favorite details include:

Mini pit crew bags that served as the party favors and included a small bag of trail mix & a swirly sucker. Each child had a pit crew pass with a Cars character on it and a name tag to wear at the party.

A fun roadway rug was setup for interactive play so that the birthday boy and the party attendees could play with their Cars and let their imagination take the wheel.

Ramone’s House of Body Art station included temporary body art tattoos in all of the different Cars characters for the kiddos to enjoy. This was a huge hit with everyone including the adults!

Adorable racing flag birthday banner and again, more creative details from the “Sarge’s” Surplus of Sweets” sign to the fun “stop light” cookies and “chocolate dipsticks”, such an original way to display all of the party goodies!

For more photos and details from this imaginative Cars themed party, be sure to check out Michelle’s full post on the party here on her blog.
